Dhawan, Ashwin and Bhuvneshwar will miss the 2023 ODI World Cup
For the first time in over 10 years, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will not be a part of the Indian squad for an ICC event. Even Shikhar Dhawan, who has scored 1238 runs across 4 ICC ODI tournaments, has not been selected. Veteran off spinner, R Ashwin, will also not be part of the squad.
Shikhar Dhawan made his ODI Debut in 2010 against Australia, where Clinton McKay got him out for a duck. Dhawan finally broke into the Indian team in 2013, becoming a regular opener for the side and keeping his spot for over 9 years. After a poor run in 2022, Shubman Gill replaced him in the squad and Dhawan lost his spot.
Bhuvenshwar Kumar is a pacer well known for his swinging abilities. He regularly played all 3 formats for India till 2018, where was dropped from the Test team. He played almost all ICC Tournaments for India since 2013, but will miss his first ICC event. Bhuvneshwar last played an ODI in India’s tour of South Africa in 2022. Since then, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur have played ahead of him.
Although R Ashwin played in the 2021 and 2022 T20I World Cup, he was never a part of the ODI and T20I squad in regular bilateral matches for over 5 years. He was a part of the 2011 ODI World Cup winning squad and played in the 2015 CWC as well. After the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, R Ashwin was dropped from the team to make space for Kuldeep Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav.

Many fans were unhappy with Dhawan, Kumar and Ashwin not being a part of the 2023 ODI World Cup Squad, Fans said their experience and skills would have made India a stronger team and India have committed a big mistake,
