Former CSK all-rounder, Sam Curran’s old interview resurfaces following CSK’s win over Delhi Capitals

Sam Curran
An old interview of former Chennai Super Kings all-all rounder, Sam Curran who went unsold in this year’s IPL resurfaced last night on the back of their victory against Delhi Capitals. Back in 2020, when Chennai Super Kings were having the most disappointing seasons in their IPL history, Curran was interviewed following one of their rare wins against Kolkata Knight Riders towards the back end of the season.
Chennai has won just 3 of their first 11 games that year. However, they managed to win the remaining 3 games and in the process ruin the chances of both KKR and PBKS in their bid to make it to the play-offs. A similar thing happened last night where Chennai’s win did more damage to Delhi Capitals than gains for the men in Yellow. Delhi’s chances of finishing top 4 are even more difficult now as they go level on points with Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“It’s all good fun” – Sam Curran on spoiling other teams’ chances of qualifying

When asked about what was his team’s motivation to win now that play-offs were off the table, the 23 year old replied, “I think today’s a great motivation, obviously, Kings XI can still qualify and if we beat them we damage their hopes of qualifying, so things like that motivate you. You can spoil the party for other teams.”
Elaborating on the same Sam Curran said, “Like the other day we beat Kolkata and they are struggling for the playoffs now and we hopefully beat Kings XI so they will be out as well, so it’s all good fun.” He added on that since other teams spoiled their party by beating them earlier on in the season, it was their turn to get back. While Chennai’s hopes of making it to the top 4 are very thin. They will be hoping to repeat their heroics of the tail end of the 2020 season, by winning the remaining 3 games. The side now face Mumbai Indians on May 12 at the Wankhede Stadium.
