There is a lot of talk regarding Virat Kohli’s inclusion in the Indian squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Reports suggest the Indian legend could be dropped from the Indian side, with the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee believing he won’t be able to play in the conditions of West Indies.
Recently, Virat Kohli scored an impressive 77 off 49 against Punjab Kings on 25th March. During the post-match presentation, he took a dig at critics who claimed his name was being used to promote the game.
My name is being used to promote T20 cricket in other parts and I guess I still got it.Virat Kohli said after the match
Robin Uthappa, who currently works as a commentator for JioCinema, was unhappy with Kohli’s statement. He claimed the RCB star had no reason to make the comment and backed Ajit Agarkar to pick the team that is needed.
I think he made an unnecessary statement. We all know what he is capable of and what he has done in the T20 format. He wants to be a part of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad, but it is up to the selectors to take a call.Robin Uthappa on JioCinema
Sunil Gavaskar defends Virat Kohli after slow innings against KKR
Virat Kohli recently hit 83* against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 29th March at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. While he was the top scorer, he was heavily criticized for taking 59 balls to score that much.
Sunil Gavaskar came to his defense, claiming that Kohli couldn’t do everything alone. Gavaskar asserted that if some other batters supported the 35-year-old, he would have batted at a better strike rate.
Someone should accompany him. If someone had supported him today, he would definitely have scored 120 instead of 83.Sunil Gavaskar on Star Sports
So far Kohli has scored 181 runs in three innings, with an average of 90.5. He also has the strike rate of 141.4. He will play the next match on April 2 between RCB and Lucknow Super Giants.
