The Pakistan Cricket Board is going through a crisis. Coaches keep leaving and the players keep underperforming. Ever since the 2023 ODI World Cup, Pakistan have managed to win only one match out of the 10 they have played. With the resignation of Zaka Ashraf, Mickey Arthur, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Grant Bradman, Javed Miandad called out the people in charge of PCB.

During the inauguration of the Sindh Premier League, he spoke about the ongoing PCB crisis, calling it a sad state of affairs. He further added that no cricket board is run as badly as the PCB.

I don’t think anywhere such frequent appointments and changes in cricket are made and it only means that we don’t have continuity in our cricket structure and more importantly the players don’t gain confidence. Since last year we have had a really bad time in terms of our team’s performances and people who have no knowledge of cricket sit and take decisions which affect the entire structure in the country,
Javed Miandad said

Pakistan managed four wins in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, missing out on a semi-final spot by two points. After that, Pakistan played three Tests and two First-Class matches in Pakistan, failing to win a single game. Their poor form continued when they played five T20Is in New Zealand, leaving with only a win. 

Zaka Ashraf resigns from PCB Chairman role 

On 19th January, Zaka Ashraf resigned from his role of the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Previously holding the role in 2011 and 2014, he won the elections after Najam Sethi withdrew. Being appointed in July, the administrator had important tournaments like the 2023 Asia Cup and 2023 ICC ODI World Cup.

Unfortunately Pakistan failed to perform in either of the competitions. With the series losses to Australia and Pakistan, he announced his resignation from the PCB. He is replaced by Mohsin Naqvi, a politician who currently is the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab province.
