Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Isuru Udana got lucky as the Sri Lankan survived a snake attack during a match in the Lanka Premier League. Udana almost stepped on the snake who had entered the field of play when he was returning to his fielding. However, someone from his team made him aware and the pacer got away with it.
This is the second time in LPL 2023 that a snake entered the field of play. Earlier, the play had to be stopped when a snake had entered the field a few weeks back. This time around, the play continued as it seemed no one noticed the snake. Udana too, was unaware and almost stepped on the reptile.
However, just when he was about to do it, someone noticed the reptile and informed Udana who was taken aback to see the snake so close to him. Udana had his hands on his head after surviving a snake attack.
Isuru Udana’s team wins!
Talking about the match between B-Love Kandy and Jaffna Kings, Isuru Udana’s team B-Love Kandy won the game by 8 runs. Mohammad Haris was the star for Kandy as the opening batter scored a match-winning 81. On the back of Haris’ knock and 20s from Fakhar Zaman and Angelo Matthews helped Kandy set a 179-run target for the Kings.
Three early blows from Matthews further strengthened Kandy’s position. However, the Kings’ lower-middle order was up for a fight. While Chris Lynn scored a run-a-ball 27, Shoaib Malik scored an unbeaten 55 to keep Jaffna Kings alive in the chase.
David Miller (24 off 16) and captain Thisara Perera (36 off 20) also held the fort with Malik but Udana and Nuwan Pradeep got them and the Kings eventually lost the game by 8 runs.
