Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth shared the dressing room when both played for the national side. They were part of the teams that lifted the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.

However, things between them turned ugly in 2023 during a match in the Legends League Cricket (LLC). Sreesanth was bowling to Gambhir when tempers flared up, with the former later alleging that Gambhir abused him and called him a “fixer”. Notably, Sreesanth was accused of fixing in the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) and faced a life ban before it was reduced to seven years by the Supreme Court of India in 2019.

And while Sreesanth did not shy away from criticizing Gambhir through social media, the latter is yet to share his side of the story. He did not reveal what he told Sreesanth during the game, and instead, he simply uploaded a picture of him smiling. When he was asked about the issue by India Today at a charity event, he chose not to comment on anything.

I don't have anything to comment on this. I am here for a noble cause and don't want to talk about that.
Gambhir was quoted as saying by India Today

Gautam Gambhir backs Rohit Sharma to lead Team India in T20 World Cup

Speaking to Aaj Tak, Gautam Gambhir lauded Rohit Sharma for his captaincy, reminding everyone of the five trophies of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He praised the Indian skipper for his brilliant captaincy during the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Gambhir said one bad game cannot make Rohit a bad captain or his team a bad team. The 2011 World Cup winner believes Rohit is in good form and should lead India in the T20 World Cup instead of Hardik Pandya.

Rohit, meanwhile, hasn’t played any T20I matches since the T20 World Cup last year. He is not a part of the white-ball leg of the South Africa series and will join the team for the two-match Test series starting December 26.
