IPL 2023 auction: Gerald Coetzee age, hometown, & career stats
As the auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be conducted on December 23, many franchises can sign him up to strengthen their pace department.
Gerald Coetzee
South African fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has been quite phenomenal with his fiery pace in domestic cricket. As the auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) is going to be conducted on December 23, many franchises can sign him up to strengthen their pace department. He can clock up near the 150 kph mark. His cameo with the bat is another bonus.
Coetzee was bought by the IPL Rajasthan Royals to replace Liam Livingstone in the 2021 season. He registered his name at the IPL 2023 auction for the base price of INR 20 lakh. He will be representing the Joburg Super Kings franchise in the inaugural season of SA20 in 2023.
The lanky Proteas was quite a sensation at the age of 19 with his pace. He only needs to keep injury at bay. He had already dealt with a few- an ankle injury early in his career and a hamstring injury in 2019. His raw pace and aggression have excited the Proteas bowling coach Charl Langeveldt who once said, “He looks like he has proper white line fever when he gets onto the field.” While the Proteas’ pace department has Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada, Langedeldt feels, “He (Coetzee) is another guy who can step up and bowl at pace.”
