The Gujarat Titans had a dream debut season in the 2022 edition of the IPL and continued their dominant form in the 2023 season as well. Reaching two consecutive finals right after their debut, one can only imagine what goes on in Head Coach ‘Nehra Ji’s’ head.
The Hardik Pandya-led franchise has a squad full of performers and match winners, however, the slightly ineffective members of the team could see themselves being released ahead of the 2024 season.
With superstars like Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, and skipper Pandya already in the team, GT will only look to further improve the overall balance that elevates the performance of the team. Before the upcoming IPL season, GT could look to release a few players and rope in some fresh faces.
Players Gujarat Titans will look to release before IPL 2024 Auction
1. Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson was ruled out of IPL 2023 due to a knee injury in the first match itself and could not prove himself on the field for the Gujarat Titans. The Kiwi batter has scored 2101 runs in his 77 career matches with his best season coming way back in 2018 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he amassed 735 runs. After sustaining a long-term injury that has also hindered Williamson’s ODI World Cup chances, GT will aim to look for his replacement in the upcoming IPL auction.
2. Yash Dayal

Nothing has gone quite well for Yash Dayal this season. Having played 5 matches in IPL 2023, Dayal picked up just 2 wickets. Those five consecutive sixes by Rinku Singh off his bowling seem to have jolted the bowler in him. Though he did pick up 11 wickets in 9 matches last season, his economy this year was a staggering 11.79. The Gujarat Titans might look to part ways with Dayal ahead of the 2024 season.
3. KS Bharat

After his debut season for RCB in 2021, KS Bharat has not gotten many opportunities to showcase his potential in the cash-right league. With two games last year, Bharat did not get a single opportunity in this season of the IPL. While his keeping may be top-notch, he has not offered much with the bat. The Gujarat Titans will look to rope in a replacement keeper for KS Bharat.
4. Odean Smith

The Windies all-rounder has played 6 matches in the IPL so far and picked up 6 wickets, but that has come at the cost of 11.87 runs per over. Odean Smith did not get a single game this season. He hasn’t found his touch in the IPL and the Gujarat Titans will be keen to let go of him.
