“Alone he won the World Cup,” Harbhajan Singh left fuming after an MS Dhoni fan portrays former India captain as lone hero of 2007 T20 World Cup win

India lost to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) Final on Sunday, meaning the fans’ dream to see their team lifting an ICC trophy was shattered, yet again. It has been over ten years since India won a World Championship in any format of the game. India’s last ICC trophy win remains the 2013 Champions Trophy which came under the leadership of MS Dhoni.
The former India captain remains the only captain to have won three ICC titles, starting with the T20 World Cup in 2007. Dhoni led a team of amateurs in a completely new format and won the elusive trophy on the first attempt. Since then, India have not been able to win the title. Hence, Dhoni is often hailed as the greatest captain of Indian cricket.
However, as Dhoni himself believes, “a captain is as good as his team”, India won World titles not only because of Dhoni but the team. But a few fans don’t seem to get this basic logic that cricket is a team sport and individuals can’t win it alone. There have been many examples to prove that “a good player can win a match but a good team wins tournaments”.
But only a few fans get this. To those who don’t Harbhajan Singh had a clear message on Twitter.

Harbhajan Singh got no chill!
The former India spinner who was a part of the 2007 T20 World Cup winning team got no chill after an MS Dhoni fan portrayed the former India captain as the lone hero of the triumph. Singh pointed out that Cricket is a team sport and there are ten other players as well, along with the captain.
“Yes when these matches were played this young boy was playing alone from india.. not the other 10 .. so alone he won the World Cup trophies .. irony when Australia or any other nation win the World Cup headlines says Australia or etc country won. But when indian wins it’s said captain won it’s a team sports. Win together lose together,” tweeted Singh.
