On this day back in 2013, India won the Champions Trophy under the leadership of the legendary captain MS Dhoni by beating England by five runs at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Dhoni undoubtedly is one of the most successful captains in the world as India tasted success in all the ICC events except the World Test Championship (WTC) which was introduced after his retirement.

It’s not wrong to say that often, whenever India does something remarkable and Dhoni is the captain, then netizens go berserk with incessant praise of Dhoni, giving ‘Captain Cool‘ all the credit for the team’s win. And that’s why former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and Gautam Gambhir do not mince their words while pointing out that Dhoni did not single-handedly win the matches but it was a collective effort from all the players.

He first made a list of some of the players’ runs and wickets before writing: “Complete team effort led by MS Dhoni guided India to win the Champions TrophyOn this Day in 2013“”.

Harbhajan simply wrote three words: “India won the [trophy and Indian flag emoticons]“. Check the posts below:

Talking about the Champions Trophy Final, it was reduced to 20 overs per side due to rain. England won the toss and elected to field first. Virat Kohli scored the most for India (43 off 34), while Ravindra Jadeja and Shikhar Dhawan added 33* and 31 runs respectively.

In response, Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara scored 33 and 30, but their runs alone couldn’t help them chase a small 130-run target. And the hosts then lost the match by five runs.
