The Legends League Cricket (LLC) had found themselves stuck in controversy after Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth had an ugly spat during a match. The pacer claimed the Member of the Parliament called him a “fixer” and also shouted obscenities at him. When LLC winning captain, Harbhajan Singh was asked about his views, a famous movie dialogue from Shah Rukh Khan crossed his mind.

Singh had captained Manipal Tigers to their first title in the LLC after beating Urban Risers Hyderabad. In a press conference, he was asked about his views of the spat, to which the off-spinner quoted a famous Shah Rukh Khan dialogue from the 1995 film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

Harbhajan Singh told the press

When reminded about his altercation with Sreesanth in the inaugural IPL, where he slapped him, Singh said it was a thing of the past. He admitted that it was his fault and was not right. He further added that he did not know what exactly happened between Gambhir but Sreesanth, but praised the quality of cricket in the league.

When MS Dhoni wrote column on slapgate scandal

In the 2008 IPL, Harbhajan Singh played for Mumbai Indians and S Sreesanth for Kings XI Punjab. The slap created a ripple in the Indian cricket circle, with many shocked. MS Dhoni, the CSK captain, wrote a column for Hindustan Times regarding the slap.

In his column, he compared the slap to Zinedine Zidane headbutting Marco Zannetti in the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals. Dhoni commented that the two were very aggressive players with aggressive mindsets, but off the field the two were not the same. He said Singh was one of the most supportive players in the dressing room, which Sreesanth has experienced, meanwhile he called the pacer one of the kindest persons he’s known.

He said the slap was unfortunate, with the two being close to him. Dhoni was happy the two settled their differences and happier that it would not affect the Indian dressing room.
