Former India cricketer and Member of Parliament from Punjab Harbhajan Singh has reacted to the viral video from Manipur wherein two women are being held captive and being paraded naked in broad daylight. Singh has condemned the incident saying it made him sick. The former India cricketer also demanded punishment for the people involved in the violence.

Notably, Manipur has been witnessing violent clashes between people from the two communities- Kuki and Meitiei for over two months now. Hundreds of people have been killed while several left injured. Meanwhile, this video of two women being paraded naked has left the whole country stunned.

While many celebrities have openly condemned the incident, Harbhajan Singh is among the very few sports personalities to comment on the issue. The former India spinner tweeted on Thursday morning condemning the incident.

“If I say I am angry, it’s an understatement. I am numb with rage. I am ashamed today after what happened in Manipur. If the perpetrators of this ghastly crime aren’t brought to the book and handed capital punishment, we should stop calling ourselves human. It makes me sick that this has happened. Enough is Enough. Govt MUST act,” Singh tweeted.

As the video went viral on social media, Manipur police instantly became active and arrested the offenders. As per reports, four people have been arrested in the matter under the charges of abduction and gang rape. Huirem Herodas Meitei has been identified as the main accused.

Earlier on Thursday, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condemned the incident saying, “Any civil society should be ashamed by it.” The comments were made ahead of the Monsoon session of the Parliament.

While this is one video that went viral, several other clips showing the intensity of violence and the damage incurred have been doing the rounds on the internet. It is worth mentioning that internet services were shut down in the state post the clashes broke down. The services were fully restored recently and ever since then clips have been flowing on the internet.
