On 7th April, Hardik Pandya finally won his first match as Mumbai Indians captain after three consecutive losses. This was also the 2nd 200+ score MI has scored this season, scoring 246 earlier against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Hardik Pandya’s first three matches as MI captain were disastrous. He lost his first game in charge to former team Gujarat Titans. In his 2nd match, his side conceded the highest total in IPL history to SRH and lost by 31 runs. He also lost his first match at home to Rajasthan Royals, in which he was booed by the fans.
He finally got his first win on 7th by beating Delhi Capitals by 29 runs. The first innings saw an incredible batting performance, as they smashed 234 runs. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 49, missing out of his first fifty of the season. Suryakumar Yadav departed for a duck in his first match in five months, while Pandya scored 39 off 34.
Tim David and Romario Shepherd put up a great show towards the end of the series, as they scored 45 off 21 and 39 off 10. Shepherd even smacked Nortje for 32 runs, hitting four sixes and two boundaries.
Chasing the massive score, DC fell short as they lost by 29 runs. Prithvi Shaw scored an incredible 66 off 40 before being bowled by an incredible Jasprit Bumrah yorker. Tristan Stubbs smashed a 19-ball fifty and finished the innings with 71* off 25 balls.
Mumbai Indians fans finally happy as team wins first match of the season
Many Mumbai Indians fans were finally relieved as their team finally won a game. Some fans hoped the hate Pandya had received would reduce now, while others were happy to see him happy. They praised Jasprit Bumrah for his incredible bowling performance as well.

With this win, Mumbai Indians jump to 8th place, overtaking Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. They play their next two games at home, facing rivals RCB and Chennai Super Kings. With this win, Pandya will hope he could carry the momentum and beat their two rivals.
