India captain Hardik Pandya was brutally trolled and was labeled selfish on social media for not letting Tilak Varma complete his half-century in the third T20I against West Indies. As Varma needed just one run to reach his second consecutive T20I fifty, Pandya hit a six to finish the match. Meanwhile, Varma wore a deserted look on his face.
The 20-year-old batter has been in impeccable form ever since he made his T20I debut in the first T20I against the West Indies. While Varma missed out on a chance to score a fifty in his debut game, he scored his maiden half-century in the second T20I.
In the third T20I, Tilak Varma stitched a crucial 87-run partnership with Suryakumar Yadav for the third wicket. While Yadav attacked the West Indies bowlers, Varma rotated the strike really well. The batter looked set to score his second consecutive fifty but only to be stranded at the non-striker’s end with the captain taking away the opportunity.
Fans fume in anger at Hardik Pandya’s selfish behavior

Tilak Varma not getting a chance to complete his half-century due to Hardik Pandya did not sit well with the fans who bashed the India captain left, right, and center. Most of the fans labeled Hardik selfish while some could not understand his thought process. A few fans also dragged his “It is okay to be unique” remark.
Check out the spectrum of reactions below.
Anyway, India won the match and made a comeback in the five-match series. Although the scoreline stands 2-1 in West Indies’ favor, Hardik Pandya and Co. have kept them alive. Suryakumar Yadav was the hero for India as the swashbuckling batter scored a 44-ball 83. He also won the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock.
