Hardik Pandya picks the traits he’d like to have from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya managed to win the IPL trophy in his debut season as captain in Gujrat Titan’s maiden year in the IPL. The all-rounder also became only the 3rd player after Anil Kumble and Rohit Sharma to win the Man of the Match award in the finals of the tournament as a captain.

Even in his debut season, being captain has only improved Hardik Pandya’s game. Being the sides highest run getter and also raking in 8 wickets, 3 of which came in the Finals of IPL 2022. The only other player to win the IPL in their debut season as captain is Shane Warne, a feat he managed back in 2008. However, being as humble as he is, Hardik still believes he has a lot to learn from the seniors as he chooses the traits he’d like to have from other Indian captains.

‘Aggression, composure, freedom’ – Here’s what Hardik Pandya wants from Rohit, Virat and Dhoni

Speaking in the interview after wining his team their first IPL trophy in their debut season, Hardik Pandya when asked about what he wished to learn from other captains, he said, “From Virat, I would pick his aggression, passion and energy. With Mahi [Dhoni] bhai, the composure, the calmness. From Rohit, I will pick that he lets the players decide what they want to do.”

Hardik Pandya could also see himself captaining the Indian side soon, especially with the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rested. For now, the reigns have been given to KL Rahul who leads the team for the South Africa series, but the selectors will keep an eye on Pandya who has been phenomenal as the skipper of the Gujarat Titans.
