Harmanpreet Kaur’s on-field behaviour in the 3rd ODI has cost her majorly. The Indian skipper is set to receive 3 demerit points for her misconduct against umpiring decisions. She first bashed the stumps with her bat and later called umpiring levels pathetic during the post-match presentation.
If Kaur receives one more demerit point within the next 24 months, she will, unfortunately, be banned for one Test or two limited over matches. Fans across the world have criticised Harmanpreet Kaur for her behaviour and method of retaliating against the umpires and their decisions in the 3rd ODI against Bangladesh.
2 out of the 3 demerit points that Kaur will receive have been given for her on-field bashing of stumps and argument with umpires while the other one is for the comments she made during the post-match presentation.
Harmanpreet Kaur to be fined 75% of her match fees
Along with the three demerit points, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is also set to be penalised by the ICC in the form of 75% on her match fees. 50 percent of the match fees for her on-field misconduct and 25% for her post-match presentation remarks.
Match referee Akhtar Ahmed, according to Cricbuzz, believes that Harmanpreet Kaur’s behaviour was a level 2 offence. Dissecting the charge on Kaur he said, “For the on-field incident (smashing the wicket) she will be fined 50 per cent of her match fee while for the way she represented herself in the presentation ceremony, she will be fined 25 per cent of her match fee.”
