England batter Harry Brook found himself on the opposite side of the luck spectrum as he was dismissed in the most bizarre way possible. As Brook came out to bat in the first Ashes Test, he was dismissed by Nathan Lyon. But more than the bowler, it was Brook’s bad luck that resulted in the wicket.

As Lyon bowled a loopy delivery on the middle and leg stump, Harry Brook tried to nudge it toward the square leg. However, the ball turned more than expected and hit Brook on his thighs. The ball then popped up in the air. The batter, the wicketkeeper, and the short-leg fielder were left searching for the ball.

While everyone was searching for the ball here and there, the red cherry landed on the stumps, dislodging Brook’s bails. Such bizarre was the dismissal that Ricky Ponting went on to say it was the strangest of dismissals he has seen in his career so far.

Talking about England’s first inning, the Ben Stokes-led team have continued with their aggressive approach. The hosts started the innings with a bang as Zak Crawley thwarted Pat Cummins for a boundary on the very first ball. Although England lost Ben Duckett in the fourth over, the hosts continued the assault.

Zak Crawley got dismissed after a 73-ball 61. Meanwhile, Ollie Pope scored a 44-ball 31. Harry Brook was dismissed after a 37-ball 32 while Jonny Bairstow scored a run-a-ball 78. Joe Root, on the other hand, held one end intact and scored his 30th Test century off 145 balls. The former England captain is still out there in the middle with Ollie Robinson partnering him.
