Harry Brook had a disastrous 2023 IPL, scoring only 190 runs with 11 innings, with 100 coming in an innings. He was released after the season, but he re-entered the 2024 IPL Auction.

Harry Brook was purchased by Delhi Capitals for ₹4 crore in the Auction, with the team management wanting to use him as a finisher. Unfortunately, he has announced that he won’t be playing in the upcoming IPL, pulling out for a mental health break.

In a statement released by Brook, he informed fans that he recently lost his grandmother, who he was extremely close with. He had recently pulled out of the India tour to spend time with her before she passed away. In the statement, he said he wanted to prioritize his mental wellbeing and support his family and hence he was staying back home.

Now that she has passed, my family & I are grieving and I need to be around them. Over the last few years I have learned to prioritize my mental wellbeing and that of my family's, honestly nothing is more important to me than family. So whilst this may come as surprising to some, I know it's the right decision for me. I'm young and hope to have many, many more years of cricket to come which I intend to make the absolute most of.

He thanked the England and Wales Cricket Board and DC for their support. Now the franchise has decided to search for a replacement for the English star.

IPL teams request BCCI to control players pulling out

Before the start of the IPL, Harry Brook and Jason Roy have pulled out. Gus Atkinson and Mark Wood were not allowed to play the IPL by the ECB. This has upset many IPL teams, and have now moved to the BCCI to find a way to prevent it.

A source from an IPL team told Cricbuzz that they found the behavior extremely unprofessional and wanted the BCCI to make sure players honor their agreements. It has occurred to many IPL teams, with players like Roy, Alex Hales, Mitchell Starc and Ben Stokes pulling out previously.
