Harshal Patel and his sister

Harshal Patel was away from the bio-bubble due to the demise of his sister. He had missed one game for the RCB against the Chennai Super Kings and RCB had to witness defeat in that match. After attending the funeral of his sister, he came back in RCB’s match against the Delhi Capitals.

On Sunday, March 17, Harshal Patel took to his social media and wrote an emotional message to his sister over her demise. He wrote:

“Didi, you were one of the kindest and most joyful person in our lives. You faced incredible difficulties in life with a big smile on your face till your last breath. When I was with you in the hospital before I came back to India, you told me to focus on my game and don’t worry about you.”

“Those words was the only reason I could and take the field last night. That’s all I could do now to remember and honor you. I will continue to do everything that made you proud of me. I will miss you every moment of my life, in good times and bad. I love you so much. Rest in peace Didi.”

Harshal Patel was the Purple Cap winner of IPL 2021 with 32 wickets and has been the standout performer in the RCB line-up. He is known for picking up wickets in crunch situations.

After their loss to CSK, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis acknowledged the effect of Harshal Patel’s absence. He said: “You see the value of Harshal, and what he offers. He has the ability to stop the game. We missed that. We lacked the variety we needed in our attack. Hopefully, we can have him again soon.”
