Kolkata Knight Riders’ Harshit Rana who recently took the stage by storm in domestic cricket stunned everyone with his acrobatic catch in the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash at the ACC Emerging Men’s Teams Asia Cup. Rana took a one-handed stunner while fielding in slips off Rajavardhan Hangargekar’s bowling at the fag end of Pakistan’s innings.

Such was the effort from the fielder that Hangargekar sat with hands on his head. Rana jumped at full stretch and was completely air-borne when he took the catch and hence the disbelief on Hangargekar’s face.

In the 46th over of Pakistan A’s innings, Hangargekar came from around the wicket to Qasim Akram who was nearing his half-century. Akram tried to slash hard as Hangargekar bowled from wide of the crease taking the ball away from the batter. However, the Pakistan batter could only manage to hit the ball with the toe end of his bat and the ball flew quickly towards the flying slip fielder.

With enough pace and a thick edge, the ball was flying quickly. Rana, meanwhile, kept his eye glued to the ball and leaped in the air to pluck it mid-air with just one hand. It was a great catch from Rana. The fielder then celebrated it with a finger on the lips gesture.

Yash Dhull-led India completely dominated their arch-rivals Pakistan in the group-stage game here at the 2023 Emerging Asia Cup. Although Dhull lost the toss, Pakistan opting to bat first worked in India’s favor. The Boys in Blue were instantly rewarded as Rajvardhan Hangargekar removed Saim Ayub for a duck. The India pacer got the Pakistan opener caught behind.

Omair Yousuf was also sent back by Hangargekar in the same over for a duck. Pakistan tried to build a partnership but Indian bowlers kept striking at regular intervals and resultantly, Pakistan A were reduced to 95/6 in 26.5 overs. However, a 53-run partnership between captain Mohammad Haris and Qasim Akram gave Pakistan something to cheer.

After Haris was dismissed, Mubasir Khan and Mehran Mumtaz scored handy runs to help Pakistan cross 200. But right when Qasim Akram was looking to take off Harshit Rana and Rajvardhan Hangargekar paired up to stop him and Pakistan. Hangargekar put the final nail in the coffin as he dismissed Shahnawaz Dahini to complete his five-wicket haul.
