Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the most loved as well as successful franchises in Indian Premier League (IPL) history and there are many reasons for that. Over the years, players have revealed that the CSK team management allows them to play freely and there is no added baggage when they are a part of the camp. This sense of freedom helps the player put on exceptional performances and the latest example of the same is Ajinkya Rahane. 

The former India vice-captain in Tests, Rahane seemed clueless till the last season when he was playing for KKR. None of the franchises other than CSK seemed interested in getting hold of the veteran batter at the IPL 2023 Auction and they got him. While it seemed that Rahane might end up warming the bench most of the season, it was not the case.

Rahane not only played for CSK but has set the stage on fire with his brisk innings. Rahane has already scored two half-centuries in five matches so far, the latest of which came on Sunday, against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Rahane scored a 29-ball 71* and helped CSK put on the highest total of IPL 2023 so far. The veteran batter hit six boundaries and five sixes during his inning.

But more than the number of boundaries, the way in which they came, surprised everyone. Fans on Twitter could not believe that it was the same Rahane who used to struggle in T20s.

Shivam Dube also impresses!

Apart from Ajinkya Rahane, there were two other half-centurions on the night food CSK- Devon Conway and Shivam Dube. The two Southpaws played some really good cricket to leave everyone impressed. While Conway scored 56 runs off 40 balls and provided a great start to his team, Dube joined hands with Rahane and destroyed KKR’s bowlers in the middle overs. 

The Maharashtra cricketer scored a 20-ball 50 and then got out the very next ball while upping the ante. Notably, Dube hit two boundaries and five sixes in his inning.
