Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik
Now that criticism has been pouring for former India captain Virat Kohli over his poor form, he found several backing him. From captain Rohit Sharma, Pakistani cricketers Babar Azam, Shoaib Akhtar to the swashbuckling Dinesh Karthik has also voiced his support. Kohli has been rested for the West Indies tour which will commence from July 22.
“Virat has experienced insane success over the period of time. Now he will get a good break and will come back all recharged and hopefully, will do phenomenally well. You can never rule out a player of his calibre,” said Karthik on conversation with Times of India while training with the budding cricketers at the PS Sports Excellence Arena on Monday.

Focus is on performing well and is not concerned about being selected for the World Cup squad, says Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik, now 37-year-old, has made a terrific comeback to the national side after three years when he awed all with his stunning finishing touches while representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2022. It’s been challenging for him because of how the sport is getting competitive, but he gave all the credit to his hard work.
“It is never easy, but I have worked hard for it. Also, given the bench strength that we have today, the competition is always going to be a part of it. This is a beauty of Indian cricket,” he said.
Karthik will be playing the T20I series against the West Indies. He also talked about the T20 World Cup scheduled later this year in Australia.
“We are preparing as a squad for the challenges we will encounter during the upcoming World Cup. Everyone has come along as we get ready for the big game with Coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma. The atmosphere is extremely uplifting,” Karthik talked about the preparation for the flagship tournament.
He added later that his focus is on performing well and that he is not concerned about being selected for the World Cup squad.
