“He will sit on the floor with me”- Axar Patel’s coach Vijay Patel sheds light on all-rounder’s humble nature

India all-rounder Axar Patel displayed his excellent talent in the second ODI against West Indies. This match winning knock has helped him strengthen his place in the 50-over format. He is one of those players who can play all the three-formats for the Indian team right now.
But the success that the Gujarati is enjoying hasn’t diminished his humble nature. His coach, Vijay Patel, who knew him since U-16 days. He shed some light on how Axar is relaxed, enjoys his game, and representing Indian team didn’t change him at all.
“He’s very focused and mentally relaxed. Success or the India cap hasn’t changed him. He’s still very humble. We spoke today. He was really happy. Sometimes when he comes to meet me, he’ll sit on the floor with me. ‘Arey tu India player hai (you’re an India player),’ I tell him,” Vijay was quoted as saying by the Times of India.
“He’s enjoying his life and cricket. He’s such a jovial character that the dressing room atmosphere is different when he’s around. He makes other players enjoy with him,” he added.

Competition from Ravindra Jadeja doesn’t make him feel pressure, says coach Vijay Patel

There was a time, when India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was shining with bat and ball for the Men in Blue. Axar Patel, being an all-rounder himself, gets tough competition from Jadeja. However, Axar’s coach, Vijay Patel revealed that Axar is completely relaxed about it and that he is just focused on his own performance.
“Sometime back, there was a phase when Jadeja was doing so well that Axar almost seemed forgotten. However, he seemed completely relaxed about it. ‘Don’t worry sir. Aage dekh lenge (we’ll see in the future)’ he told me. He wasn’t feeling any pressure.”
“It doesn’t make a difference to him if Jadeja is around or not. He’s only focused on his own performance. As I said earlier, he’s just relaxed and enjoying his game. It’s this attitude which helps him keep performing well,” he added.
