“Horrible performance”- Twitter reacts Jan Frylinck’s slow knock helps Namibia crawl to 121/6 against the Netherlands
Namibia vs Netherlands
In the fifth match of the Group stage, Namibia, with Jan Frylinck’s 43-run knock put on 126/6 against the Netherlands on Tuesday [October 18] at the GMHBA stadium in Gleelong.
Winning the toss, Namibia chose to bat, for the pitch won’t be a batter-friendly down the line. However, this didn’t prove helpful because they couldn’t set a challenging target.
Namibia lost its first wicket when Tim Pringle sent Divan la Cock on duck. Michael Van Lingen (20 off 19 with three fours) was the next batter to return to the pavilion in the powerplay when Colin Ackermann’s tossed up (around the middle) delivery made Van Lingen clear it towards the man at mid-off; Bas de Leede grabbed an easy catch.
Stephan Baard could score 19 runs off 22 balls; Roelof Van der Merwe dismissed him with Fred Klaassen taking a sharp catch. Paul van Meekeren chipped Nicol Loftie-Eaton on duck.
Namibia’s last match’s star batter Frylinck played a crucial knock here also. With a six and a four, he scored a slow 43 runs off 48 balls; in the second last over, de Leede’s off-cutter (full and outside off) made Frylinck dispatch the ball off the toe end of the bat towards the mid-on and fell onto the hands of van Meekeren easily.
After two balls, skipper Gehard Erasmus also gave away his wicket to de Leede. He departed after 18-ball 16-run knock. David Wiese then added 11 runs to set a small target of 122 for the Netherlands. De Leede picked up two wickets, van Meekeren, Colin Ackerman, Pringle, and Roelof van der Merwe scalped one wicket each.
