Kohli, 34, is still unstoppable with the bat. Since his comeback to cricket after that horrible lean patch, at the 2022 Asia Cup, he has slammed more than four centuries across all the formats, including IPL.

The Delhi-born batter, in this IPL, though a couple of times scored slow half-centuries, his knocks were not without a few scintillating ones. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar opined that if Kohli continues to bat in this fashion- going for boundary shots as well as runnings between the wickets- he can prolong his career. 

“Tonight, he just came in thinking differently. I don’t know whether it was his own decision or someone spoke to him, but if Virat bats in this fashion, not only he’s going to extend his T20 career, but suddenly, RCB looks like a different team. Now, you got Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Virat Kohli batting at the same kind of strike rate. That’s ominous,” Manjrekar told ESPNCricinfo after the game.

After Kohli’s scintillating century, Amir took to Twitter to hail Kohli, calling him the “real king“. “What a inning by one and only the real king @imVkohli take a bow,” said Amir in his tweet.

Kohli and Faf du Plessis kept RCB’s playoffs hope alive. But if they lose the match against Gujarat Titans in their final league match, they will get knocked out of the tournament.
