How much prize money will RCB get after finishing 3rd in IPL 2022?
RCB
Royal Challengers Bangalore enjoyed a strong season in IPL 2022, finishing 4th in the points table. However, RCB endured a very stop start season, being unable to find momentum and winning a string games in a row. However, they eventually did manage to qualify for the play-offs and even won the eliminator against the Lucknow Super Giants, in a thrilling match.
However, RCB will have the settle for a third place finish in the IPL after they failed to defeat Rajasthan Royals in the Qualifier 2 of IPL. As a result, RCB are set to receive INR 7 crores prize money for finishing third this season. The wining teams and runners up will recover a cash prize of INR 20 crores and INR 13 crores resepctively.
Will the prize money increase next season ?
There have been a lot of talks of increasing the prize money in IPL next year. BCCI hasn’t increased the prize money since 2016. In fact the board reduced the prize money in 2017 and again 2020 as the Covid-19 pandemic ravaged their finances. However, with BCCI having sold 2 new teams this year and the IPL media rights auction set to begin next month, BCCI is looking at a huge inflow of cash that could increase the prize money for the team.
A BCCI official told Indiesport, “That (increasing prize money) is currently under discussion. The prize money should be increased by 20-25% from next year. But the amount is not yet final. There should be a decision next year before the tournament.” As of now RCB are set to received a cash nous of 7 crores as they finish 3rd in IPL 2022.
