Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians (MI) were languishing at bottom positions on the points table during the first half of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, after pulling off an incredible win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), MI leapfrogged to third position and made their playoff qualifications a bit stronger.
In that match against RCB, the latter posted 199/6 courtesy of two half-centuries, from Faf du Plessis (65 off 41) and Glenn Maxwell (68 off 33). However, a breathtaking innings from Suryakumar Yadav (83 off 35), a half-century from Nehal Wadhera (52* off 34), and Ishan Kishan‘s 42 off 21, drove the five-time champions past the target to win the match by six wickets (with 21 balls remaining).
If the Rohit Sharma-led side ends up winning their last three matches, they can even secure a top-two finish. They will first meet defending champions Gujarat Titans on May 12, followed by the clash against Lucknow Super Giants on May 16, while their last league match is against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 21. They have to boost their net run rate which is at – 0.255 to continue their hunt for the playoffs.

How Mumbai Indians can qualify for the playoffs?
For Mumbai Indians to qualify for the playoffs, they have to win at least two out of their last three matches. The two wins will give them 16 points.
However, if they are able to win only one match, the situation will be tricky for them to qualify. They will have 14 points and to qualify, a win with a huge net run rate will be required. At the same, their qualification for the playoffs will depend on the match results of Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and RCB as well. These three teams have to lose two of their last games.
