“I adjust the field wherever I feel it is needed” – Virat Kohli reveals he has freedom to change fields during matches
Virat Kohli
After 9 years leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli stepped down as captain following the 2021 season. The 33 year was replaced by former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis. Since, taking over, Faf has done a commendable job of leading the team as they now sit on the 4th spot with provisional qualification.
RCB’s win against Gujrat Titans ensured that SRH and Punjab were out of the race for qualifications. However, now RCB’s chances of qualification also hang by the thread as they need DC to lose their last game to qualify. While Faf du Plessis has been amazing with the tactical approach of the game, he has been helped quite often by the former captain as revealed by Virat Kohli

“We have a leadership group where we share inputs” – Virat Kohli on RCB’s tactical approach
Speaking to INSIDE RCB at Sport sports, Virat Kohli said, “To be honest, it’s different. I won’t say it’s hard because it’s something that you’re involved in regularly. So, the good thing is that my relationship with Faf has always been good. We also have a leadership group in the team where we all share our inputs.”
“Even on the field, when Faf is on the outfield and I am inside, I make sure to look after the fielding angles and the placement, so he’s given me the liberty to adjust wherever I feel that there’s a need, but always keeping him in the loop obviously. So, it’s been a different way to look at the game, but because I’ve done it so much in the past, it’s not something that I don’t know how to do,” he added.
After a dismal season, Virat Kohli finally found some form after the former India captain scored 73 off 54 balls to guide RCB to victory in the final game of the league stages. The player was also helped with Glenn Maxwell who scored a blistering 18 ball 44. RCB now sit 4th on the points table but with a negative NRR, a win for DC would make them 4th and RCB 5th.
