West Indies great Ian Bishop lavished massive praises on Virat Kohli and also urged West Indies players to learn how to run between the wickets from the Indian batter. India are locking horns with West Indies in the second Test in Trinidad.

Like the first Test, India have placed themselves in a commanding position with Virat Kohli playing yet another decent knock. In the first Test, he scored 76 runs and will start Day 2 of the second Test with his unbeaten 87 runs.

During the 72nd over of India’s first innings, Kohli was batting with Ravindra Jadeja. The 34-year-old went for a single and called for a double but as he was running back for the second one, sensing a runout, he dived well in time to save himself from the fielder’s throw at the stumps. Bishop, in the commentary box, couldn’t stop himself from praising the Chase Master for his commitment.

Bishop said Kohli-who was playing his 500th international match- knows the value of each run on the field. “I wish I could tell every youngster in the Caribbean to adopt his running approach and not wait for boundaries,” Bishop said on air. He added that Kohli is a guy who is desperate for even one run in Test cricket.

When Virat Kohli made the dive, he instantly called for the physio. He seemed to have injured his already taped finger. The match was halted for a while.

As mentioned already, Kohli played a knock of an unbeaten 87 on Day 1, helping India post 288/4 at the stumps. During his innings, he became the fifth-highest run-scorer in international cricket by surpassing Virender Sehwag. If Kohli scores his century on Day 2, it will be his 29th Test century as well as his first overseas one since his ton in December 2018.
