Afghanistan batter Ibrahim Zadran made a bombshell statement on Pakistan after victory over Babar Azam and company on Monday (October 23). At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Zadran’s 87 guided his team to an eight-wicket victory over the Men in Green.

Zadran top-scored for Afghanistan and collected the Player of the Match award as well. During the post-match presentation, Zadran dedicated the victory to those Afghans who were forced to leave Pakistan by the government.

“I am feeling very glad for myself and for my country. I want to dedicate this man of the match award to those who are sent back to Afghanistan from Pakistan,” Zadran said during the post-match presentation.

Zadran made those 87 runs from 113 balls which also included 10 fours. Apart from him, Rahmanullah Gurbaz also scored his fifty (65 off 53). Hashmatullah Shahidi and Rahmat Shah remained unbeaten on 48 and 77 respectively.

Afghanistan records two upsets in ODI World Cup

Afghanistan registered their second win in the ODI World Cup by upsetting defending champions England and then Pakistan. They started their campaign with a loss to Bangladesh before facing another defeat, this time, from home team India.

They stunned Jos Buttler and his men by 69 runs. But got hammered by New Zealand by 149 runs in their next match.

The win over Pakistan was the first one in the history of ODI cricket. This victory took them to the sixth position on the points table while Pakistan, after registering three back-to-back defeats, are fifth on the table.
