Babar Azam and Co. will enter the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup with a match against Qualifier 1 on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. But the most-awaited match of the tournament will be held on October 14 when the Men in Green will lock horns with Rohit Sharma and Co. at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Like the last edition, this year also a total of 10 teams will be locking horns with each other once, and the four teams with the maximum points at the top of the points table will qualify for the semifinals. 10 venues have been chosen for the matches and Pakistan will play theirs at five of them- Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Chennai.
Pakistan had previously co-hosted the 1987 World Cup with India. But this time, only India will play the hosts for the first time in the history.

Pakistan have lifted the World Cup once, in 1992, under the captaincy of Imran Khan. They have been the runners-up once (1999) and could reach the semifinals four times (1979, 1983, 1987, and 2011).
Talking about the classic rivalry between India and Pakistan, it’s the former who have lost seven of their encounters against India. It’s due to the political tension between the boards of these two countries owing to which there was a delay in announcing the schedule for the World Cup and it was announced just 100 days before the event. Pakistan requested the International Cricket Council to change the venues for three matches which the ICC refrained from doing so.
