Former India captain Virat Kohli has struggled with poor form in recent matches. The cricket fraternity are eagerly waiting for the match of the arch-rivals India and Pakistan but Kohli’s knock will also be under the radar of everyone.

A big name in this sport, Kohli’s lean patch has raised many eyebrows especially when he was included in the playing XI in bilateral series to the dissapointment of several people who wanted him to be dropped from the side because according to them, a playing XI should included those who are in-form and if someone is not contributing to the team, without seeing the player’s stats in the past, he should be dropped.

But Kohli received backing from his captain Rohit Sharma, Pakistan’s white-ball captain Babar Azam and the list also includes former India head coach Ravi Shastri. Shastri and Kohli’s team led India to reach heights in cricket. Shastri even advised Kohli to take a break from the game which might help him to comeback stronger.

As Asia Cup is to start from August 27 with the opening match to be played between India and Pakistan on August 28, Shastri believes that one good knock from Kohli will shut up everyone’s mouth.

“I haven’t spoken to Virat Kohli recently but the ‘big guys’ always wake up at the right time. The downtime for Kohli was good before the Asia Cup gave him a good chance to reflect. If he manages to get a fifty in the match against Pakistan, mouths will be shut. One innings can make a difference. He needs one innings to get back because the hunger is undiminished. What’s happened in the past is history. Remember public memory is very short,” Ravi Shastri said in a presser arranged by Star Sports ahead of the Asia Cup.

“There is no Indian cricketer who is more fitter than Kohli. He’s a machine and if he manages to get his mind right, for him it is a matter of just 1 innings to come back into form,” Shastri added.

“Kohli is the fittest player in the Indian team and nobody can match Virat Kohli’s work ethic the way he trained. He is a machine. No question, he will definitely come back in his best form. His hunger and passion are unbelievable,” Shastri further said.
