The Pakistan cricket team has been under fire for their lack of intent in the powerplay. The team had gone 1142 deliveries without hitting a six in the powerplay. Even the middle order batters were criticized for not showing any intent while batting. Opener Imam-ul-Haq said the diet the players were on was the main reason they didn’t hit sixes.
In a press conference Imam-ul-Haq said, “Maybe we want to eat more proteins and not that much carbs, but it is just that there is nothing we want to talk about. It is just we really do not feel it if we are not hitting six or not four, it is just that what are we doing for the team.”
Pakistan finally broke their run of no sixes in the powerplay in their loss against Afghanistan. Abdullah Shafiique hit a six in the 5th over against Naveen-ul-Haq. This was their first six in over 1169 balls. Shafique hit another six just 3 overs later as well.
Fans troll Imam-ul-Haq for his excuse
Netizens could not believe the reason Imam-ul-Haq gave when asked why they were not hitting sixes. Many fans trolled the opener for his poor excuse and said they needed to work on his batting instead. Many compared the Pakistan batters to Indian batters like Rohit, who hits sixes for fun.
