Rachin is of Indian descent and his parents are cricket enthusiasts. So much so that they named their son after the two Indian legends, Dravid and Tendulkar.
Rachin’s ‘Ra’ is taken from Rahul’s name, while ‘chin’ is taken from Sachin. The 23-year-old lived up to his parents’ dreams to become a cricketer and after his century knock, fans started touting him as the next big thing for New Zealand cricket. Ahead of India’s first World Cup match, Dravid was asked what he thinks of Rachin’s knock to which the India head coach said he saw more of Sachin in him.
“Watching him bat yesterday, he hit five sixes… Maybe it was more ‘chin’ that was there. Not sure, I hit the ball off the square at all. I couldn’t hit the ball off the square at all. Maybe the Sachin in it helped him certainly,” Dravid said in the press conference.
