Arshdeep Singh dismisses Babar Azam

India certainly got a dream start when Arshdeep Singh, on his very first ball of T20 World Cup 2022, dismissed Pakistan captain Babar Azam for a golden duck on Sunday [October 23] at the MCG in Melbourne. It was such a fine start for the youngster to open his World Cup like this.

This happened in the second over. Arshdeep was bowling his first over. On the first ball, Arshdeep started on middle, it was full and he let the ball do its part. Babar planted his front foot a little too across and then attempted to flick it. He missed, to his surprise.

The ball hit his pad and the Men in Blue were over the moon when the umpire raised his finger. But, wait, Babar quickly signalled for third umpire’s review.

UltraEdge showed no bat involved, the Ball Tracking showed three reds! The Pakistan skipper then took a long walk back to the pavilion.

Soon Babar’s opening duo, Mohammad Rizwan, followed him to the dressing room. Arshdeep was the star bowler again to upset Rizwan.

This happened in the fourth over, Rizwan , who was probably on the front foot, tried to pull it but top-edged it. The ball fell onto the clutches of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Pakistan certainly was in deep trouble. It’ll be now interesting to watch how Pakistan’s middle-over will act! These two batters score 50 % of Pakistan’s run.

Pakistan so far have scored 42/2 in seven overs with Shaan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed at the crease. Masoon has scored 24* off 20 balls, while Ahmed scored 11 runs.
