The Men in Blue's first international assignment is a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka under the leadership of Hardik Pandya from January 3.
Team India
A lot of things happened in 2022. After India’s defeat against South Africa in Test, Virat Kohli stepped down from Test captaincy. That year Aisa Cup and T20 World Cup were played. India, despite winning in the bilateral series, had a disappointing show in these marquee events. Rohit Sharma and Co. lost the semi-final to Jos Buttler’s England in the T20 World Cup. But the Men in Blue ended the year with a series win over Bangladesh.
Not to forget the experiments done on the captaincy. Several players, the likes of KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya led the team at one point. As 2023 has begun, Team India’s main focus will be the World Test Championship Final as well as the ICC ODI World Cup, which is slated to take place in India.
