The weather reports in Kandy will only make the cricket fans frustrated. On Saturday (September 2) when India will face fierce rivals Pakistan at the Pallekele Stadium, a heavy downpour is expected in the afternoon.
The close watchers of the Asia Cup, after witnessing a one-sided match between Pakistan and Nepal, were eagerly waiting for a match that has the ability to take one’s breath away and keep them on the edge of their seats. But unfortunately, as mentioned, rain is expected to play spoilsport.
This upcoming match will be their first encounter since last facing each other in the T20 World Cup in 2022 in Australia. India, with a heroic knock from Virat Kohli, secured a nail-biting victory at the MCG in Melbourne.

It has been raining in Kandy for the last two days. As per Accuweather, there is a 75 percent chance of rainfall with a 45 percent chance of thunderstorms and a cloud cover of 64 percent. Morning shower is expected in the morning and there are chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon.
However, because it’s a 50-over contest, and if it indeed rains, the happy news is that ground staff can have enough time to prepare the pitch for the left overs. If at all rain washes away the match, then both India and Pakistan will share points.
Sri Lanka doesn’t usually stage hosts to international matches during August-September because of seasonal rainfall. But because it was an impromptu decision by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Sri Lanka will have to host these matches.
The problem started after the endless drama between the two rival boards- the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). BCCI won’t send the players to Pakistan due to security reasons and wanted Rohit Sharma and Co. to play their matches at a neutral venue. As a result, Sri Lanka is co-hosting the match alongside Pakistan with India playing all of their matches in the island nation.
