Even though India and Pakistan do not compete bilaterally anymore, whenever they clash on the big stage, it is nothing short of a blockbuster entertainer. One of the oldest rivalries in cricket after the Ashes, the India and Pakistan matches are a huge deal for both countries.

Universe Boss Chris Gayle had his say on which of the two rivalries has been a greater affair. The former West Indies batter showed no hesitation as he ranked the Asian rivalry over the Ashes.

Gayle said, “India vs Pakistan – that’s bigger than the Ashes. Yes, that’s bigger than Ashes, absolutely. That’s humongous on a the world stage. Billions of people watching that. We know what comes.”

While talking about who could play a major role in India’s success at the ODI world cup, he picked neither Virat Kohli nor Rohit Sharma but pacer Jasprit Bumrah and ‘young man’ Suryakumar Yadav. Gayle also believes that this is not Virat Kohli’s last world cup and that we might see him play for India in 2027 as well.

Chris Gayle will watch the mega clash on 15th October

Chris Gayle has promised that he will be in the stands to watch the mega clash between two heavy-weight rivals, India and Pakistan on 15th October 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Talking to the Times of India he said, “Let’s see what happens on the 15th. I’ll go watch it.”

Meanwhile, Gayle’s former team, the West Indies, have failed to qualify for the 2023 ODI World Cup. It is the first time ever that an ODI World Cup will take place without the Caribbean lads. West Indies has lost to teams like the Netherlands, Scotland, and Zimbabwe in the World Cup Qualifiers.
