The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the 2023 Asia Cup schedule on Wednesday (19 July). The continental tournament will kick off on 30 August with a match between host Pakistan and Nepal. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match will take place on 2 September in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

While this India-Pakistan game is certain, there are two more games that may take place during the 2023 Asia Cup. There are high chances of India and Pakistan meeting thrice in a span of 15 days at the 2023 Asia Cup.

While the first encounter which will be a group-stage game is scheduled for 2nd September, the second India vs Pakistan game is also certain with both teams expected to qualify for the Super 4s. The third India vs Pakistan clash could be the biggest among all and will take place (if all goes well) on 17 September in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

How can India meet Pakistan thrice in Asia Cup?

If both India and Pakistan manage to secure the top two spots of the Super 4s points table, the arch-rivals will meet in the summit clash of the 2023 Asia Cup on 17 September. 

So, here is how India can play Pakistan thrice in fifteen days. 

  • 1st match- India vs Pakistan on 2nd September 
  • 2nd match- India vs Pakistan- A2 vs A1- Super 4s on 10 September
  • 3rd match- India vs Pakistan- 2023 Asia Cup Final on 17 September. 

However, there are chances that the third match does not take place as any of India and Pakistan can get knocked out before the summit clash. But even in that case, two India vs Pakistan matches will be up for the whole world to enjoy.
