The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday (9 August) released the 2023 ODI World Cup revised schedule and confirmed that the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match will now take place on 14 October. The match has been preponed by a day as it was originally scheduled to be played on 15 October. The venue, however, remains the same i.e. Narendra Modi Stadium. 

Apart from India vs Pakistan, eight other matches have been rescheduled due to different reasons. The England vs Afghanistan which was scheduled to be played on 14 October has been rescheduled for 15 October.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka has been moved from 12 October to 10 October. Also, Australia vs South Africa has been moved back 24 hours and will now be played on Thursday, 12 October instead of Friday, 13 October.

India’s match against Netherlands at 2023 ODI World Cup also rescheduled

Apart from India’s match against Pakistan, the hosts’ match against the Netherlands has also been rescheduled. The match has been shifted from 11 to 12 November with the venue remaining the same. “Meanwhile, India’s last league game against the Netherlands has now been shifted from 11 to 12 November, a day-night clash to be played in Bengaluru,” confirmed ICC.

The other games rescheduled are New Zealand’s game against Bangladesh, Australia vs Bangladesh, and England vs Pakistan. New Zealand vs Bangladesh match was originally scheduled as a day match for 14 October in Chennai but now has been moved back and will now be held on Friday, 13 October, and be played as a day-night contest. Meanwhile, Australia vs Bangladesh and England vs Pakistan will be now played on 12 November.

However, there is no change in the start and end dates of the 2023 ODI World Cup. The quadrennial showpiece event will kick off on 5 October with a match between England and New Zealand and the summit clash will be played on 19 November.
