The most-anticipated league game of the 2023 ODI World Cup, the India vs Pakistan clash is set to be preponed by a day as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to the change in schedule proposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and host board BCCI. The match was originally scheduled to be played on 15 October but due to it being the first day of Navaratri, the BCCI has decided to change the dates.
As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Pakistan have agreed to play India on 14 October with the venue being the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While a committee, formed by the PCB is still working to make a final decision on Pakistan’s participation in the tournament, it is believed that Pakistan will travel to India.
The Babar Azam-led team is scheduled to open its campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 (as per the original ODI World Cup schedule) and play India on the 15th. But now, as it seems, the two arch-rivals will meet a day before.
“The India-Pakistan game at the 2023 ODI World Cup will now be played on October 14 rather than the scheduled date of October 15…Though the ICC is yet to release a revised schedule, ESPNcricinfo understands the PCB has agreed to the change. The match will still be played in Ahmedabad,” claimed the report.

Revised ODI World Cup schedule to be released by end of this week
The report further claimed that the revised schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup will be released by the end of this week. There are other changes expected to the original fixtures as well. As Pakistan will now play India on 14 October, their match against Sri Lanka will also be preponed by two days.
As per the report, the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka match will be played on 10 October rather than 12 October. Also, as there are two matches scheduled for 14 October- Bangladesh and New Zealand in Chennai and Afghanistan and England in Delhi, there will be a change here too. “The latter game is likely to be affected, potentially played a day earlier (October 13),” the report claimed.
