Sarfaraz Khan receiving his Test cap and scoring a half-century on his Test debut became one of the highlights of the match. At the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday (February 15), the 26-year-old scored 62 runs from 66 balls before Mark Wood ended his knock after a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja.
Sarfaraz’s father Naushad Khan was in the stadium, witnessing his son’s performance from the stands. A proud and emotional father couldn’t control his tears while watching Sarfaraz get his Test cap.

Naushad reflected on how he used to be tough on his son so that he could learn about the hardships of life. Sarfaraz’s father also recalled how his son sometimes slept without eating food and was forced to travel by train despite having a car.
I have been harsh to him, but that has been done to him for a reason. The night that he had slept without food, was to teach him how the people sleeping on the footpath felt. We had a car but forced him to travel by train so that he would learn the hardships of life.Naushad said (quoted by India Today)
Sarfaraz’s father then revealed son never flew kites and used to wake up early to go for practice. Naushad said Sarfaraz, instead of hanging out with friends, rather used to practice in the evening, and after reaching home he would again practice.
Sarfaraz Khan told father he would go back to selling track pants
It took stellar performances in three Ranji Trophy seasons that made Sarfaraz Khan play his first international match. Sarfaraz is already a recognized player in domestic cricket but was always ignored by the selectors.

As senior cricketers like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer aren’t playing in the third Test match, Sarfaraz earned his Test call-up.
When he was overlooked by selectors, Sarfaraz once told his father that if he failed to play for India, he would go back to selling track pants.
