Nothing good is happening for India in their first match in the 2023 Asia Cup against Pakistan on Saturday (September 2) at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka. After the dismissal of captain and opener Rohit Sharma by tearaway pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, a few balls later, the tall paceman bamboozled Virat Kohli.

Afridi dismissed Rohit in the fifth over and in the seventh over, the Pakistan pacer delivered a length ball and Kohli, after smashing a boundary off his ball in that over, tried to bang it behind the square leg. But he had no time to react as the ball went past him and smashed the stumps.

The 34-year-old could score just a mere four runs from seven balls with a four, at a strike rate of 57.14. This was Afridi’s second wicket. He did his job for Pakistan, by sending the top-order batters to packing.
