India Test cricketer Hanuma Vihari decided never to play for Andhra in the domestic circuit again, all due to the “humiliation” he faced at the hands of the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). On Monday (February 26), Vihari took to Instagram and shared a post revealing the details of the incident which took place in January this year.

Vihari said he was forced to step down from the captaincy after a fight between him and his teammate which happened during Andhra’s first match against Bengal in January this year. The cricketer said political interference made the ACA remove him from the captaincy.

I was the captain in the first game against Bengal. During that game, I shouted at the 17th player, and he complained to his dad (who is a politician). His dad, in return, asked the Association to take action against me. Although we chased 410 against last year's finalists Bengal I was asked to resign from the captaincy without any fault of mine.

Vihari then added that he did not say anything to the player on a personal note. Vihari also expressed his disappointment over the treatment he received from the association despite his consistent efforts in helping his team in the Ranji Trophy.

He wrote he gave his body on the line last year, took his team to five knock-outs, and even played for India in 16 Tests. But in spite of all these, Vihari said he had been humiliated because of political interference.

I've decided that I'll never play for Andhra, where I lost my self-respect. I love the team. I love the way we're growing every season, but the association doesn't want us to grow.

Hanuma Vihari did not reveal who the player was but hours after his Instagram post, Prudhvi Raj (who was that 17th player), took to Instagram to post a story, revealing that the “guy” was him. He gave his side of the story, saying whatever Vihari said was false. He said he is not “bigger than” the game and mocked Vihari for playing “sympathy games“.
