The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has announced the 17-player squad for the upcoming Asia Cup on Monday. Indian cricketing fans gathered in eager anticipation as the Indian captain Rohit Sharma and the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, confirmed the lineup. This list, comprised of seasoned veterans and emerging young stars, left everyone anxious and captivated.

However, despite the excitement, there were some decisions that raised some concerns. Fans and commentators were baffled by Sanju Samson‘s exclusion despite of his remarkable ODI batting average of 55.71. This left cricket enthusiasts in dilemma why such a dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman remains to be neglected by the selectors.

Tilak Varma, who has recently made his debut in T20I during a tour of the West Indies, was included in the ODI squad this time. This rapid transition from T20 Internationals to One day Internationals tells about Varma’s hard work, talent, and adaptability across formats.

The selection of Suryakumar Yadav added a further layer of interest.He is known for his heroic performances in T20s. But  in contrast to his T20 skills, he has struggled in the 50 overs format. However, his selection implies that the selectors have confidence in his abilities and are giving him another chance to showcase his skills on the major international stage.
