IPL 2022: Rishabh Pant, Shardul Thakur fined heavely, another team member banned for a match

Scenes from DC v RR

Rajasthan Royals fifteen run victory over Delhi Capitals yesterday has been eclipsed by a controversy that arose due to an umpiring decision in the final over of the match.

Delhi required 36 runs off the final over of Obed McCoy. The chase seemed very unlikely, but Rovman Powell managed to hit fellow countryman for three consecutive sixes. The third six came off a high full toss delivery. The on-field umpires considered the delivery fair and didn’t signal for a no ball. The no ball would’ve handed the Delhi Capitals one extra run and a free hit, which would’ve made the chase more possible. Jos Butler looked furious with Pant’s behaviour and even walked up to have a word with the Delhi captain.

The Delhi camp was clearly furious about the decision of the umpires and captain Rishabh Pant even signaled the batsmen to leave the field as a symbol of protest. Pant had also sent assistant coach Pravin Amre on the ground to have a word with the umpires.
