IPL 2023: Gujarat Titans probable playing XI
Their major purchase was former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson. Williamson was roped in for just INR 2 crore but still, Hardik Pandya will keep leading the side in the next season.
Gujarat Titans
Although the defending champions Gujarat Titans signed in seven players in the mini-auction, their major purchase was former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson. Williamson was roped in for just INR 2 crore but still, Hardik Pandya will keep leading the side in the next season. GT head coach Ashish Nehra confirmed that the Kiwi will walk out to bat at no.3.
GT traded fast bowler Lockie Ferguson to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the auction. In the mini-auction, they signed Shivam Mavi for INR 6 crore and Irish pacer Joshua Little to strengthen their pace department. Mavi earned his cap during the T20I series against Sri Lanka on January 3. In his debut match, he shattered the Lankan batting line-up with his four scalps.
GT’s one weakness is that they rely more on the all-rounders and the middle-order’s destructive batter David Miller. Ahead of the 16th edition of the cash-rich league, here is the list of the names of players who has a higher chance to get featured in the XI.

Gujarat Titans probable playing XI
Wriddhiman Saha
The 38-year-old will don the wicketkeeping gloves for the defending champions. Opening for the Titans in 2022, Saha batted at a strike rate of 122, scoring 317 runs from 11 matches.
Shubman Gill
India’s star opener Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 45 in the final against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022. He and Miller (32*) stitched an unbreakable stand, steering the score to the target of 133. After appearing for 28 India matches, Gill recently received his cap for T20Is against Sri Lanka.
Kane Williamson
Williamson is struggling to score runs with a higher strike rate. He recently relinquished New Zealand’s Test captaincy, after which he scored a double ton against Pakistan. Despite his slump in form, Kane’s experience is a bonus to the Titans.
Hardik Pandya (C )
The flamboyant all-rounder will lead the team in their second as well. When he was released by Mumbai Indians, GT roped him in and made him the captain, to the surprise of many fans. But little did they know that he’ll lead the Titans to victory in their inaugural season.
David Miller
Arguably the most reliable player for the Titans. He has the ability to rescue a team from a terrible situation. No bowler would want to defend runs against him in the last overs as this formidable finisher unleashes absolute carnage.
Rahul Tewatia
The middle-order batter has often rescued his team with his quickfire. In 16 matches for the Titans, Tewatia scored 217 runs at a strike rate of 147.62.
Rashid Khan
The top batters of the world develop fear when facing this Afghan spin-wizard. He wasn’t retained by the Sunrisers ahead of IPL 2022. In the 2022 season for GT, he played an integral role in helping the team become the champion. His batting at a strike rate of 206.82 is another advantage to the Titans.
Mohammed Shami
The Indian veteran Mohammad Shami is one of the best seam bowlers in India. He scalped 99 wickets in 93 IPL matches. He played a crucial part in the Titans’ victory, picking up 20 wickets from 16 matches. Shami started with Delhi Capitals in 2018 and spent two years with the Punjab Kings before GT signed him for INR 6.25 at the mega auction for IPL 2022.
Alzarri Joseph
The West Indies fast bowler was signed by Mumbai Indians in 2019. And in his first match against SRH, he returned with the figures of 6/12, which is also the best figures by a bowler in IPL history. For Gujarat, he scalped seven wickets in nine matches in 2022.
Shivam Mavi
Mavi was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders since 2018. In 32 matches for the KKR, he scalped 30 wickets at an economy of 8.71. After much bidding, Gujarat finally roped him in. Mavi was the pick of the bowler in his maiden T20I for India against Sri Lanka.
R. Sai Kishore
At the 2022 IPL mega-auction, the 26-year-old was signed in for INR 3 crore. But he appeared in just five matches and scalped six wickets.
