BCCI also revealed the reason behind this change in the schedule.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a change in IPL 2023 schedule on Monday. BCCI revealed that the 46th match of the season, between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has been rescheduled. The game has been preponed by a day, to 3rd May from 4th May. However, the timing for the match will remain the same i.e. 3:30 PM IST.
BCCI also revealed the reason behind this change in the schedule. The board said that as Lucknow Municipal Corporation elections are scheduled for 4th May and Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium is scheduled to host the fixture between CSK and LSG, the game has been preponed.
“The TATA Indian Premier League match 46 between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings, originally scheduled for Thursday 4th May 2023 in Lucknow, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 3rd May 2023,” said BCCI in a release on Monday.
“The fixture has been revised owing to the Lucknow Municipal Corporation election on 4th May. There has been no change in match timings and the game will begin at 3:30 PM IST,” it added.

Thrilling contest on the cards!
Although the game is still more than two weeks away, the anticipation will be high as ever with MS Dhoni visiting Lucknow for the first time. The last time the two teams met this season, MS Dhoni hit two consecutive sixes against Mark Wood and the social media was set on fire. So, it will be interesting to see if the CSK captain replicates that cameo. Also, the head-to-head record between the two teams stands at level 1-1. This being the third game between CSK and LSG and the second game this season, it will be interesting to see who takes the lead.
