Is Shah Rukh Khan performing at the 2024 WPL opening ceremony?

In the past few days, the Women’s Premier League kept announcing the performers during the opening ceremony of the 2024 edition. By February 20th, Sidharth Malhotra, Kartik Aaryan and Tiger Shroff were announced as performers.
On the 21st, WPL announced Shahid Kapoor and Varun Dhawan as performers, teasing a big star to join in as well. Many wondered who it was, as they already had gotten in so many big stars to perform in the event. They later confirmed that Shah Rukh Khan will be performing in the opening ceremony.
Khan is a renowned Hindi actor, starring in classics like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Veer Zara and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. He owns the Kolkata Knight Riders, who have won two Indian Premier League titles. Khan has performed in the 2011 and 2013 IPL ppening ceremony.
The opening ceremony will take place at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on 23rd February. It’ll start at 6:30 pm, an hour before Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals play the first match of the season.
Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in franchise cricket
Shah Rukh Khan was one of the first team owners in the Indian Premier League, purchasing the rights for the Kolkata franchise alongside Juhi Chawla and her husband. They named it Kolkata Knight Riders and the team has won the IPL twice.
Along with KKR, Khan and Chawla own three more franchises in different T20 leagues. They first purchased a stake in the Caribbean Premier League team, Trinbago Red Steel, in 2015. They changed the name to Trinbago Knight Riders in 2016. Since their takeover, TKR has won the CPL four times. They also have a women’s team, which participates in the WCPL, winning the inaugural season.
KKR then purchased the rights of the Abu Dhabi team in the International League T20 IN 2022, making it their 2nd franchise team outside India. They finished last in the first season and were knocked out in the eliminators in 2024. They also own the Los Angeles Knight Riders, which play in Major League Cricket.
