Harmanpreet Kaur’s behaviour in the 3rd ODI between India and Bangladesh women was completely off the charts. She attracted major criticism from fans around the world for her misconduct on the field. Kaur has definitely landed herself in trouble after two instances of major misconduct.
While many believed what Kaur did was wrong, there were some who came out in support saying that the umpiring was indeed below par throughout the series. One such person was Smriti Mandhana. The lefty Indian opener spoke in support for her skipper in an interview.
Mandhana also spoke against the umpiring standards in Bangladesh and emphasised the lack of DRS in the series. She said, “We expect a little better level — I would term it in a better way that better level of umpiring in terms of some decisions because it was very evident in some decisions, there was not even a second thought given if the ball hit the pad. Not even one-second thought was given and the finger went up.”

Smriti Mandhana labels Harmanpreet Kaur’s actions as part and parcel of the game
Smriti Mandhana believes that whatever happened, happened in the heat of the moment and that winning for India is what means the most to Harmanpreet Kaur. She thinks that such incidents are part and parcel of the game and in moments like these it is justified.
Elaborating on Kaur’s behaviour, she said, “When you want to win so badly, I think the spirit of the game and all those things, definitely we can talk about later. But knowing Harman as a person, knowing how much she wants to win for India, from the spirit of the game (perspective) that it is (wrong), but yeah, when you really want that ‘W’ on the board for India, these things happen.”
While it cannot be denied that some of the decisions taken on the field were questionable, Harmanpreet Kaur is under the radar and is set to get scrutinised for her actions.
